Dave Long's Faith*in*Fiction announcement...
I am pleased to announce that this story has been picked up for publication by The New Pantagruel. This is one of the premier online Christian art journals and I'm grateful to them for agreeing to partner with faith*in*fiction for this contest. If you don't know
T.S. Beckett, then you should. His prose evokes the Holy Spirit for me. So I'm glad his conversion story is getting great recognition.
After reading Dave's conversion story picks I still felt like I had a pretty strong piece. I'm thankful to al the emails that praised the story and was suprised that I wasn't listed. Although I think my story is strong, for me I'm glad it didn't get picked. There are many things about it that I'm not satisfied with. Therefore, I'm rewriting it and extending it into a longer piece.
My goal was to do what Beckett accomplished. My external plot overpowered my internal conflict. I couldn't find a suitable place to setup Bebe's questioning of God. After months away from the story and reading the other stories now I can see an opening for Bebe.
Exodus might be the novel I'm searching inside myself to write. Who knows. I wrote two novels in two years and still feel I need to keep at it for a little while longer.
I uploaded my latest version of chapter one of Angel on the Back Pew. You can check that out. This year I'm writing two novels at a time-- a paranormal and a literary. And a short story a month. Gotta get the chops up for the next contest.
What are you writing this year?
