OK. I'm blogging a lot today. This is a high traffic day and Bloggers Unite for Human Rights Day. Bloggers around the world are challenging each other to use our blogs to draw attention to injustices that affect our human rights. Here at Christian Fiction Blog I speak of Darfur often. Today I want to shed light on another issue close to my heart-human trafficking, particular women trafficking.Approximately 27 million people have been sold into slavery in our present age. 80% of those slaves are women, shipped as cargo across the world and could be living in our neighborhoods.
- Award winning author, Susan May Warren is so passionate about this issue that her third book in Wiser Than Serpents (Mission: Russia #3) (Steeple Hill Women's Fiction #62)
tackles human trafficking in Russia.( more about this title next month.) She held a contest on her Scribbles blog last week that will 2 people to the International Justice Mission Banquet on May 27.

- Last month Former pro-wrestler Harrison "Hardbody" Norris Jr. was sentenced to life in prison for enslaving homeless women in Atlanta. Atlanta people!
Human trafficking prosecutions such as this one are a top priority of the
Department of Justice. In the last seven fiscal years, the Civil Rights
Division, in conjunction with the U.S. Attorneys' Offices, has increased by
nearly seven-fold the number of human trafficking cases filed in court as
compared to the previous seven fiscal years. In FY 2007, the Department
obtained a record number of convictions in human trafficking prosecutions.
