I Told the Mountain to Move

Blessings to you!

As an avid reader and lover of Christian books, I am so excited to be able to fill in for Dee (which are some big shoes to fill), but I’ll do my best. I love and respect Dee because she is a woman who is also passionate about Christian books and she keeps it real. (Great minds think alike you know!) With so much to discuss and share about Christian books, the Christian publishing industry and the many writing and book promotion opportunities, I’ll do my best to keep you in the know. (Pray for me yall!)

I’ve reviewed some really cool books recently and I just have to share a review and commentary of one of my favs. Check it out and let me know what you think as well as what you’d like to hear more about here on the blog. Happy Reading! You’re going to be blessed by this book for sure!

I have been a believer in Christ for over twenty years. I've prayed and saw my prayers answered. I have prayed and heard from GOD. I have prayed and some of my prayers have not been answered (at least not yet anyway) and I have prayed and only heard silence. I turned to classical prayer teachers like Andrew Murray’s' Christ in the School of Prayer. I grew bored with prayer thinking that GOD wasn't really listening, nor was HE planning to change things. But HE did have Patricia Raybon's book planned all along.

I TOLD THE MOUNTAIN TO MOVE by Patrica Raybon is an answer to prayer. Poignant, real, heart-wrenching, soul-stirring, thought-provoking, inspiring, faith-filled and written like only a master penster truly set apart by GOD to deliver this powerful, transforming message of prayer. I TOLD THE MOUNTAIN TO MOVE reminded me that prayer doesn't change GOD; prayer changes me so GOD can work through me. That I am an answer to someone's prayers, too. Like Mother Theresa once said, "I see GOD in the face of everyone." Raybon reminded me of this. To live this out. To pray without ceasing, not for material things but for what really matters in my life and the life of others. To walk in forgiveness, love, kindness and respect and display that (with the help of prayer) to others even those who are not like us or even remotely close.

I've waited my whole life to hear this message. It has taken my prayer life, my communion with GOD-listening, journaling and speaking to a delicious new level. It reminded me that I am not alone.

You'll truly be delighted, thankful and grateful for the words on every page. At goodgirlbookclubonline.com we've received numerous emails about how I TOLD THE MOUNTAIN TO MOVE changed their prayer lives for the better. For this and more, we say, "THANKS."

You'll love I TOLD THE MOUNTAIN TO MOVE. Keep prayer alive!

Fun Friday: Selah & The Great Doll Debate

Lisa Bowman

Selah(my five-year-old daughter) and I have a passion for dolls. And sometimes Selah mistakes the dolls I buy for hers. And in most cases I break down and give them to her. But there are some exceptions to this rule.

One is the Lisa Bowman doll from Ladie and Friends, Inc. I fell in love with these dolls when I was in and out of the hospital three years ago. And everytime I have my six week doctor's appointment, I have to stop by the hospital gift shop to see the new ones. Well this, spring. They have an African American with curly hair like Selah. And she's country like me. I'm so excited and inspired. I'm thinking about writing a series of kids books just for Selah. Let me finish my novel first.

But I thought she was cute. And a nice pic me up from yesterday's tragedy. Today's my mother's 53rd birthday and my good friend, Kim's 36th. Yesterday my grandmother became seventy. So there's a need for celebration.

Still praying for those in London. I found a cute doll created there I'll post that next Friday. And for all you Terri Lee doll fans Target has a new line for girls coming out this month. And of course, I contacted their corporate offices about the African American dolls. :)

Creating a Christian Fiction Review Canon

When we are on one accord the Lord moves. This morning, as I did my usual routine(reading news feeds, preparing which chapters to write, organizing my book reviews to post,) I read four blogs discussing the importance for critical Christian Fiction Reviews:

1. Brandywine Books

2.Semicolon

3. Cerulean Sanctum

4. Gaddabout

J. Mark spoke on this last Month as well. And I think about it often. If there was a critical Christian Fiction Review Canon what should it consist of?

As a critical book reviewer and commercial book reviewer, I think it should take the best of both reviews plus couple it with some christian ethics, if there is such a thing. Let me give an example, and then you can comment here or on your own blog what kind of review standard you think is necessary.

Dee's Christian Fiction Review Canon

1. Must possess a brief synopsis(one paragraph) of the review, whereby the review does not tale the ending, but leaves the hook intact.

2. Must possess a five point literary critique:
(theme/conflict, style&flow, character development, structure/plot, content)

3. Must contain an extra critique of the story's quality. Despite the literary elements is this story fluid? Is it good despite the flat dialogue?

4. Methods to improve if any

5. A final critique of whether the novel successfully depicts a Christian view(trinity, faith)

Instead of a five star system it should be seven or three?

Writing to see what the end's gon' be,
Dee
