Learn How to Build Your Book Tour with BookTour.com Tonight

Live Chat with BookTour.Com Tonight
8pm EST
Call in # : (646) 649-1066
Online: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/mediacandy

Join me and my special guest co-host USA Today Bestselling author/Movie Producer ReShonda Tate Billingsley(Simon & Schuster) chop it up with Booktour.com CEO & co-founder Kevin Smokler about this great site for authors and why The Devil is a Lie. (Marina is on vacation, but may pop in.) Kevin is our bro-host for tonight's show.

I have been using Booktour.com this year for several projects and know it will be a help to any author seeking affordable ways to promote their current title. Booktour.com is a free service and does a great job integrating reader, book store and author participation.

From my assessment if more authors, readers, bookstores, bookclubs, publishing houses, lit pubs like me use this service we will be able to have tighter and faster and stronger reader community. We can bring community spirit back to reading. Just as important we can bridge whatever autonomous divide that was created, whereby bookstores, publishing houses and authors aren't working symbiotically to sell books.

I hope you join us tonight.

You have four options to participate.

1. You can call in using the number above.
2. You can visit the link below and hit play/chat to be directed to the chat listening room.
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/mediacandy/2009/07/01/Media-Candy-BookTourcom-Sprinkles--1

3. You can download the mp3 of this event after the show.

4. You can share this online radio opportunity with other authors, bookclubs or bookstores who would find value in listeing to Kevin speak about BookTour.com and/or Reshonda Tate Billingsley talk about The Devil is a Lie and chop it up with me.

As a reminder, Media Candy is a current events entertainment show. The beginning of the show we will talk current events. Not sure if we will talk about Michael Jackson's passing, but will post show notes and discussion topics at 6pm on Christian Fiction Blog and Twitter
http://christianfiction.blogspot.com

If you have questions for either Kevin or Reshonda, please remember to press *1 on your phones so that I can see you on my switchboard.

Thanks,

Dee Stewart

A Good Blog (Almost Grown Up)

by Guest Blogger, Marina Woods

Memories, like the corners of my mind.

I remember when Christian fiction blog spot was a tot, then a toddler

and now standing on it’s own. Where did the days go? Lots of nurturing,

and sacrifices to make Christian fiction blog spot what it is today.

Dee Stewart is one of the most dedicated lovers of Christian fiction. I love to pop in to see what new author or novel she has discovered and shared. Christian fiction Blog inspires me to venture out and try authors I may not have otherwise heard about. Many of the books have strong spiritual themes and often make me think well after the last page. Because I can get so busy promoting, sometimes I miss out on really great stuff – DVD’s, CD’s, anthologizes – all the z’s. Tee hee. I truly appreciate discovering something outstanding upon every visit.

Entering kindergarten is the beginning of independence and all things new - new experiences, new discoveries and new friends. I know that Christian fiction blog will remain a cornerstone in the inspirational market for years to come. I’ll be there watching your prom night, of course.

Happy Birthday, Christian Fiction!! Here’s wishing you many, many more!

Tribute to Michael Jackson

A little shocked and saddened that Michael Jackson has passed. My favorite performances from Michael Jackson are on my Youtube account. I really enjoyed him at the 1995 MTV Awards and the 1988 Grammy Awards with the Gospel Choir.

THE 2009 FAITH and FICTION RETREAT FEATURES 4 BESTSELLING CHRISTIAN FICTION AUTHOR in ORLANDO, FLORIDA

ATLANTA, GA, June 23 / --Amidst dwindling book sells in the publishing industry, Christian books, specifically Christian novels continue to outsell literary competition, according to Publisher's Weekly. Therefore it was no surprise that during the summer's heavy reading season Christian Book Clubs rallied to bring the much anticipated third annual Faith and Fiction Retreat to sunny Orlando, Florida.

The Faith and Fiction Retreat is an annual luxury event where book clubs relax, relate and read with bestselling authors. The retreat will be held at the The Villas of Grand Cypress in Orlando, FL. Bestselling featured authors this year are: Reshonda Tate Billingsley(The Devil is a Lie, Simon & Schuster,) Tiffany L. Warren(The Bishop's Daughter, Grand Central Publishing,) TiaMcCollors(The Truth about Love, Moody,) and Angela Benson(Up Pops the Devil, Harper Collins.)

The 2009 retreat will bring brand new panels for book clubs, publishing 101 for authors and late night book discussions for TEENS. The retreat will take place in family vacation spot Orlando, FL at The Villas of Grand Cypress (www.grandcypress.com). Features of The Villas of Grand Cypress include exceptional grounds, free transportation to Disney and Universal Studios, and horseback riding. Other authors presenting panels are: Pat G’Orge Walker, Sherri L. Lewis, Dwan Abrams, Bonnie Hopkins, Shana Burton, Ashea Goldson, Daphine Glenn Robinson, Donna Deloney, Linda Leigh Hargrove, Sherryle Jackson, and Poet Stella Alexander.

The retreat will open its doors to Orlando and surrounding residents for it's first Saturday Summer Session & Author Book Fair. Barnes and Noble Orlando store will host the book fair and author signing. Visit Florida Faith Fiction Fair for more information.

3 Steps to W.O.O for Writers Contemplating Giving Up

Rain

Singing in the Rain Courtesy of Jillybug

This weekend I attended my lil sister's commencement. I must say that I never attended one like this one before. Yall it felt like church. A gospel quartet sang the National Anthem, the Dean gave the invocation, a graduating student shared her conversion testimony, the president of the college preached. Y'all it felt like church. And I thank God, because He knew I needed some church in my life. How about you?

Are the dismal sales numbers in publishing seeping a little doubt in your quest to becoming published? Are the horror stories from published authors about their publishing houses publicity department's lack of marketing effort causing you concern?
How about the cost to hire someone like me, even if you could afford me in this economy would extra help, actually help?

If those questions are causing you pause, then you need some (W.O.O.) Wonderful Options and Opportunity. Here's three simple steps to get the W.O.O.
