"It's taken a long time for even the Christian booksellers to accept that fiction is valid," said Bethany House author, Bette Nordberg. "Even the notion of reading for pleasure is a new idea. That's an iffy concept" among some in the Christian community."
I've read other blogs discussing this notion of the arts relevance in christian life. I want to know what you think? Is reading make believe illuminating?

Aaron Barnhart: Web coverage of Katrina blew away TV news
Ever since Dan Rather put his body between Hurricane Carla and mainland Galveston, Texas, in 1961, television and Mother Nature have enjoyed a tempestuous, but fruitful, relationship.

I have a trafficspecials site. It pretty much covers trafficspecials related stuff.
check it out if you get time :-)
I think that the word "pleasure" in the reading for pleasure statement is what's so iffy among the community he mentioned. I believe we can read and be enlightened by fiction and I believe that to enjoy reading a story with Christian life lessons is a positive thing. If we remove the sexual connotation from the word pleasure then I think we may just remove the iffy-ness of it too.
