Free market capitalism and conservative Christianity aren't natural bedfellows. But, they have become aligned and I'm really curious how and why.My question: How does a non-left wing christian author[let's say a single black healing mother] form a successful book marketing campaign when most Christian media is linked to christian organizations that are against the plight of a single black healing mom? Or in simpler terms is their room for non-left Christian authors in the industry? How would this kind of author convince a publisher to take a chance on her? Even if she has a built in audience that isn't mainstream christian counterculture?

Dee, the reality is that the right-wing conservative talkshow hosts you mentioned are likely not going to cover the kind of stories you want to tell. And that's not just because you're a black single mother. I think it would be pretty difficult for a white non-conservative Christian novelist/single mother to get their ear as well.
Besides, do you think their listening base really reflects your target market?
I agree. Nonconservatives in general would have a hard time. But I think some of my target market taps into those media outlets. Like my sunday school galpals. They are conservative. The read Left Behind like its an extension of the Bible. But when we get together I'm not Dee the procivilrights Diva. I'm funny Dee, who has a lot to say about Christ's love for all mankind. They will read my book, because they know me. But others just like thing wouldn't give me the chance unless they launch a huge word of mouth campaign for me, which I'll discuss at Bonko tonight:) But I wondered how many good authors aren't getting attention, because even in Christian Land we separate ourselves. great comment, Lamonica. :)
Okay, so maybe you don't reach a more mainstream audience through those specific radio pondents.
And perhaps now's a good time to do a little market research and pick the brains of your Sunday school pals and find out what it would take to promote your book and others from your same genre to them.
What other genres do they read besides Christian fiction? What media do they consume? How do they find out about a good book?
And as long as your Sunday school pals are willing to read your books because they've come to know and love you, I'd say you've got your big toe in the door.
I got my big toe in the door? :) Love you, Lamonica :)
