Monday I received a whimsical surprise when Marilynn Griffith called wanting to know had I received her soon-to-be-released novel, Pink. I had and it was placed accordingly on my review stack. We chatted about everything from our screaming children, industry talk, and my version of a real romance novel. :) And then we talked about her novel and my overwriting flaw.Call it a journalist thorn in my side or what my male friends call my overperfectionism. I'm an editor. I overedit myself. Ergo, my two novels that pray for a chance to be read by anyone. So here's a tip I learned from Mary Rhythm of Grace: It'll never be what you want it to be, but it will be everything to someone waiting for your words. As you work on your novels, think about your story, forget about that perfect word your southern diction can't recall and make every effort to give it a chance. Afterall, that's what your favorite authors ask of you.
