Coretta Scott King
1927-2006
This morning while driving Selah to school we learned that Mrs. Coretta Scott King passed last night in her sleep. She was a quiet, beautiful and powerful presence over Atlanta. We will assuredly miss her, but as a Christian and a mother I know that her spirit will continue to speak to us, even now she will speak through us. In Atlanta we are driving with our lights on in commemoration of this great mother's legacy. We invite you to do the same.
An excerpt King's 2001 speech at Kaplan Jewish Community Center in suburban West Palm Beach....
"I believe America has a special mission. Surely God didn't put the full radiant rainbow of humanity in this land by coincidence...I think we have all been tossed on these shores together to provide an irresistible demonstration of the beloved community for the rest of the world."

Rest in peace, Mrs. King.
What a timely quote.
