Ginger Garrett's Dark Hour

This summer I highlighted this novel as one of the best summer selections for Christian Readers. God is good. He has blessed me to call the good ones out, because this month the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance has made it our book selection. An excerpt from Chapter One...

Athaliah realized her own body was trembling. She tried to steady herself and call a servant but a living Presence moved into the room and silenced her. She watched as the hairs along her arms stood straight up, and the hairs unseen everywhere on her body raised as well. Her breath stopped and terror overwhelmed her, perhaps if she looked out of the corner of her eye, she would see the God Miraiah had called. She bit her lip and forced herself to look, but saw nothing.

Dark Hour is a biblical historical, but fictional account of 2 Chronicles 21-23, written in Queen Athaliah and Princess warrior Jehoshebeth points of views.

Honey, Desperate Housewives has nothing on this book (second installment of Garrett's Serpent Moon Trilogy.)

I really liked this book, because of the strong women characters portrayed. Although Athaliah is horrid, Garrett gives her some balance. Jehoshebeth's reverance for her wayward stepmom also brings a little balance, too. This book is a great supplement to a bible study and a great read. My mom, who is not a reader, is reading my copy now. :)
